The Queen of Reckoning

The Queen of Reckoning

I think I stopped just long enough, the world quit spinning and there was only us. Center of the city, center of my soul; middle of my heart beating with anticipation. Soft. Sincere. Serene. Lost in touch, brief and fleeting. There isn’t enough time in the day to stay and say the things that dance across my tongue. There isn’t enough time to sit and wonder and wander my gaze across every inch of her face. There isn’t a button, one magical button to press and hold and hope that what’s happening now…stays and beams like rays of sun, lighting up her hair…it’s too much to take in at once.

Sit back. Relax. Let the moment move you and soothe your soul. One right sounding board, one great adventure. One measuring moment that makes up the rest of your life. Maybe it’s fate. Perhaps it’s belief in a better way. Better take time and take stock and be the person you’re meant to be. Destined for greatness…weren’t we all? Where do we get lost along the way?

Looking for love? Waiting for the day? What day?

Today; I saw, what I thought to believe, the Queen of Reckoning. “Dance with me”, I said with a smile. “Take my hand, and I’ll show you how to fly.” But she looked away. I reached out to touch her, to bring her back to me, and in an instant, she was gone. I stood there staring at my feet. Battle worn Converse, concrete calling me, comforting me…I crashed so hard. I called out to her, and closed my eyes…eyelids heavy…pavement of plasticine and pain…”light my way”, I said…and…she did. 🐢
